MONTEREY, Calif. (May 11, 2007) Organizers for the Sea Otter Classic, a Celebration of Sport, announced today the event dates for the 18th annual event would be May 1- 4, 2008. At a recent strategic planning meeting, the event’s directors considered several factors in determining the move into early May. Key factors included the probability of better weather conditions and the likely schedules of national and international racing and event calendars for 2008.
“In response to requests and recommendations from our athletes, fans, and sponsors, we have decided to host the Sea Otter Classic on May 1-4, 2008,” said Frank Yohannan, president and CEO of the Sea Otter Classic, Inc. “We look forward to seeing all our supporters at the 18th Annual Sea Otter Classic.”
Mark your calendars and start your training; next year’s Sea Otter Classic will set a global stage in the ramp up to the Beijing Olympics. Stay tuned to www.seaotterclassic.com!
In terms of weather, this sounds like a good move. This past Sea Otter saw cancellation of certain events due to the rain and wind that hit HARD on Saturday. Also many vendors lost out on their biggest sale day because the weather kept a lot of potential shoppers indoors. The flip side to this was that Sunday saw huge sales by various vendors not wanting to lug home so much merchandise!
