This is how we roll…..

RL and I headed out for our weekly Thursday night ride at the Fully Loop and my co-worker Alan joined us tonight. He hasn’t been out riding on the trails in over 10 years! So props to Alan for coming out and giving it a another go!

As we were gearing up to head out RL says “Uh oh, I don’t have a spare tube, but we should be ok. Don’t worry you won’t get a flat. It will be either me or Alan.” Right there I knew he jinxed us! Not even 15min into our ride, who gets a flat? RL of course!! He was showin off some of his side hoppin skillz and he pinched flated his tire! Well lucky for us he has some patching skillz too!

As we are waiting for the resident wrench to mend his tire we hung out and enjoyed the view. We always see strange things out on the trails. We saw these kids later on in the trail and RL asked “So do you ever ride him?” The kid responded with “Only when he’s in the mood.” Hahaha. Yeah, yeah, we just left that one alone.

So as we were fixing the flat, we couldn’t help but notice 12 guys ride by and not even ask if we needed any assistance. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Now I don’t have much assistance to offer other riders, but I still always offer! I couldn’t believe so many guys rode by without even so much as a greeting! As RL was finishing up we were passed by some socal riders and I am happy to report that they all offered help. My faith in the kindness of mountain bikers was restored. Thanks guys!

Well we had ourselves a great time. Alan actually did really well for a newbie. He was crazy out there on the trails, following RL up and down the hills, slipping and sliding everywhere. It was rather entertaining to watch. lol. He’s got some spunk in him!

As we were riding along RL had a Jeremy Yang moment. We’re half way through the trail and he had to poo! We couldn’t make it to the grocery store so we had to do it boy scout style. Hey, when nature calls….

And we are happy to report that Alan has been officially initiated! Without further adieu I introduce to you EXTREME bike rider
Mr. Alan Trinh and his first war wound:

Ah! Good times! What a trooper, and he’s still smiling! We’ll see you out on the trails!
Happy Riding everyone! 😉
