“Security on Aisle 7”
During my lunch break I drove down to a small LBS near my work to pick up drop bars for a bike I’m restoring. I walk into this small shop and immediately the owner gets out of his seat behind the counter and starts asking me what I needed. I thought to myself, ok, good service. Then the guy basically became my shadow.
I picked up the bars that I wanted, he then takes it from my hand and quickly walks over to the register, and rings me up. I wasn’t quite done looking around, but I got the impression he didn’t want me there. After I pay, I take the time to look at the shelves and see what his shop offers, he then stands in front of the products I was looking at that was on the wall behind the counter.
Mmmkay. I got the hint and left. Now I’m not sure if it was my complexion or perhaps the owner has had many people shoplift in the past, but rest assure, that will be the LAST time I’ll be going into the shop.
Never had I had a shop made me feel that I was being watched to make sure I wasn’t going to steal anything. I’d mention the shop name but I won’t since I don’t feel like giving them any publicity. But let’s just say its in Anaheim, off Lincoln and St. College.
Either he didnt like shady looking Pinoys or you interupted him watching porn and wanted to quickly resume his um, viewing pleasure…
Maybe the store is a front for a powerful drug cartel, and you were interrupting a huge deal.
Thats funny cause there is a shop in PA just like what you mentioned. Really weird character that runs it. He follows you around and asks you if you want to buy anything that you pick up and look at. I’m like, “Ummmm.. no.. I’m just looking around.” But he will still ask each and every time you touch something and shadow you through the whole shop. The other thing is he and his shop smells like a rancid pile of sweaty socks.
