Rider Down–by Cancer
If you ride the world famous Fullerton Loop you probably have seen this van:
And most likely you know his owner:
This is Dave “Crash” Collins, if you don’t know who he is, here’s a little about him:
I grew up in the 70’s racing motocross for my father’s Motorcycle shop in Anaheim California. In the 80’s it was all bicycle road racing and raising my two lovely daughters. My transition back to the dirt came in the late 90’s racing mountain bikes. I am a former California State Downhill and Super “D” Champion and a 2005 Red Bull Road Rage Athlete.
I have worked within the aerospace industry the since 1982 for companies small and large. My jobs have ranged from High Speed CNC Machinist, Machine Parts Inspector, and Quality Engineering to Quality Management and Management Systems Implementation. As exciting as that sounds, at the end of the day, I was still left wanting.
With my true passion of riding, racing, and the healthy lifestyle that cycling creates, I knew a big change was inevitable. After being asked by Brent Thomson of Bootleg Canyon and the good folks at All Mountain Cyclery in Boulder City, Nevada to promote a race out there, I jumped at the chance. David contacted me to do a little work on his website (www.crashinnovations.net), he was getting ready to promote a very ambitious DH race dubbed the “Dam Cold DH Race” when he found out that he had Cancer. Although Crash is not a stranger to this disease, this cancer seems to be very aggressive and it is spreading rather fast. He has now asked me to help him out by establishing a donation fund to help out with his costly medical bills. I know that these are tough times, but every little will help.
Thanks
