Win RL’s Airborne Taka!
You read it right, you can win my personal race bike, the Airborne Taka. It saddens me to announce this contest because I simply love the Taka. However, due to health insurance issues, I am having to give up racing downhill. Rather than having this beautiful bike sit in my garage collecting dust, I’d much rather see it go to a good home.
There’s nothing wrong with my Taka, in fact, I even have the Cane Creek Angleset installed with a 1.0 degree off-set.
In order for you to win this, all you have to do is leave a comment below. All comments will be held in purgatory in order for us to filter through the spam. If you’re a legit comment, we’ll approve it. We’ll randomly choose one lucky winner from the comments.
We’ll be announcing the winner this “Sunday”. Good Luck!
First post here, though I read you daily on my Google Reader. (Thanks btw, for making that Reader feed fully functional!) Keep up the entertaining posts and see you on the trails (on my new used Taka I hope).
How can your bike not go great with my Pink Tux Jersey I won before? That and I need!!!! a new ride.
I would be at least 12% faster on the Taka!
Sweet bike, sorry you are having to give it up. I enjoy reading all of your posts in FB and on your blog. Best of luck to me!
RL,
No need to give away the Taka. I will gladly buy it from you. Airborne is well-known for their value. However, I can send you a cashiers check for $5000. Just write me a check for the difference in price. Also, would you mind shipping it to my cousin’s address? Or just keep the bike. I am an attorney who represents a royal family in Africa. I can underwrite an insurance policy for you that will allow you to race. Just send me a check. . .
I’ll share, I promise 🙂
To whom it may concern:
I am a poor struggling student in south orange county that just learn how to ride a bike. I work 7full time jobs and have to support my family. The taka is a dream of mine to own and I would lie to get rad on it please consider me as a potential buyer as I can only promise great success on this beast of a sexy bike. RL Policar you are a kind and huggable teddy bear of a guy so dude pick me!!!
Taka Taka. Sorry to hear you must part ways…
o yea im in.
Sorry to hear that you have to give up racing for a while, but I would love to ride your Taka in honor of you, besides I need it to keep up with Neal Bryant when I ride with him!
Man, I have been wanting a downhill bike for a long time! This could be my ticket!
Too bad you have to give up dh racing, good for us I guess, getting a chance to win a cool bike.
Sorry to hear about your situation. I’ll just hold onto that Taka for you. I promise I will give it back when you ask.
no way you’re doing this!!! i want it!!!
That sucks. Very generous to share with your readers. May the bike go to someone who rides it long and hard.
I’ve been wanting to pick up downhill biking ever since I moved to Arizona, but school is ducking away all my money! I’ve been following this Site for a couple years now, but this is my first time commenting. Thanks for the great coverage and this awesome opportunity! I wish you the best of luck!
you cant stop riding! u will be jonesing to hit some fatty booters and stomp some gnar rock gardens. keep the rubber side down. -love chris the condor daigle <3
D’oh! And here I thought it was going to be a Flight Crew announcement! Hope you’ll at least be able to keep riding at least for fun!
I need this bike! please!
tsk tsk if I get this bike, I’ll claim you as a dependent, put you on my insurance and then let you borrow it to shred.
Dearest,
It is appalling to me that you have to give up racing due to lack of health insurance, and I thought Obamacare took care of that????
In baby Jesus’name,
Barrister The Moe
that is one sad story bro
Sure would be fun to ride a piece of history from the legend behind mtnbbikeriders.com and represent a great brand like Airborne.
Bro praying for your health issues!
Sorry to hear of your situation. It is awesome that you would just give this bike away. That shows that you really care about your sport wanting to get more people into it.
I do not like hearing that someone is having to give up what they love, but I promise you that the bike will be taken care of if I win it.
I would only want it if it comes with the wheel relfectors. If you’ve taken them off, then the deal is off. Its dead to me.
I would love to give downhill a try. There are several new trails in my area, I just need the equipment to get started.
hahah @ Albacore’s post. That is going to be hard to beat.
I have a new option for your taka, it’s called a time share. I’ll happily ride it, keep it clean and lubed, store it in a safe dry place, take sexy photos of it in its natural environment, let pretty girls stoke it in a sexually suggestive way, let my wife ride it (on her birthday and anniversary), use it to distract hipsters while they ride their fixies downtown, use it to outrun cougars (animals and women), buy it Christmas and birthday presents, attempt to get it on camera in tv shows and films that are shot here, and in return, you can come visit me in Vancouver and ride the shore and Whistler on your old trusty steed. I also have the worlds seventeenth most uncomfortable sofa bed, and if that doesn’t make you want to make me the winner, I’ll tell everyone what the L stands for in your name (hint: its not LaBeouf), (hint 2: there’s an aussie connection), and that when you were 9, Ronald McDonald scared you at his family restaurant (See my entry from the “win stuff from my garage” competition… which technically I never won because I was living in Australia back then.)
If you have trouble picking a winner, how about donating it to an up and coming youngster in your local area or club. Someone who shows some raw talent and could use it to progress to the next level of racing or riding.
Wait… You race with reflectors on your spokes? Oh, they must match your eyes and your pink jersey 😀
Cool bike! And I have different photos of you riding that bike as screen savers on all my different computers. Just sayin. You should sign it first, too. I wish you the best with your health.
Crossing my fingers. I’m pretty sure I didn’t win the Mega Millions, so here goes this.
I’m sorry to hear about the insurance troubles, and having to get rid of that amazing bike! Someone is going to be one lucky fella. If by slim chance that happens to be me, I promise to punch Corey Pond in the family jewels. Twice! And I’ll get it on video.
RL my Filipino brother! I’ll give your Taka a good home. Salamat!
So, socks for runner up?
I’m really sorry to hear about you having to hang up the helmet, but also kinda excited I could win your rig! But yeah, sorry to hear about your early retirement…
Love the Facebook and site. I need a bike so bad I ride my wife’s GT Agressor!
Now that’s sad, and easily made fun of.
Woo hoo! I need your bike! I’ll love it and take good care of it…and then work towards stomping Art next time I ride with him.
Ive never won anything in my life! I will ride that bike from 12,000 ft to 5000 in no time! I win!
I didn’t win the mega millions. Could use a new bike!
Sorry to hear about you having to part ways with the sport mate. I’m sure you’ll make up for it with XC and other cycling though!
We feel your pain RL. It saddens us as well to see you not on the hill. But we know you will be there cheering us on. And still on the trials on local rides! Shred on homie, we will give TakaTaka a good home!
If you cant use this bike anymore I sure can! WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN!
TEKA! I mean TAKA!
Can’t say that if I win the Takao that I will start riding downhill. Frankly I think you downhill riders miight be a bit CRAZY. Fun to watch, but CRAZY. However, if I win I will find some good use for the bike.
Oh oh! Pick me! We share a special bond over cotton candy. 🙂
Dear Mr. Policar,
Sorry to hear the news about your racing career, you were doing really well. I see you have a dilemma and I would be more than happy to sport the TAKA. This past season I took on the coaching job for two guys under the PMBC Racing and it was fun. Just keep riding.
See you soon
Takawesome!
We have a restaurant named Tako Cheeno here
I want to win it to race it, and win with it, if I don’t get it, I hope the person who wins it uses it as much as I would, and promotes the brand, as these bikes are a great deal!!
A comment? Is that all it takes? Really? Almost seems easier than the lottery…..dang…..count me in!
