Memorial Day Weekend
I hope you all had a great weekend. I know we did. But before we go on with our ride report, I would like to take the time to thank all the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving our country to protect our freedom. All of us at MtnBikeRiders.com thank you for everything you have done.
If I may, I’d like to WARN everyone that this following article is rich in photo content. So if you’ve got dial up…not sure why you would since WiFi is readily available through your neighbors…then you better grab a sandwich and a cold beer because it will take some time to load up all the pics from this weekend.
We started off by gathering some of the troops to do a day trip to Big Bear, Ca. Neal Bryant, Art Aguilar, myself and Lady P. hit the ski lifts to get some riding in. We were totally surprised by how cold it was when we arrived. In fact it was so cold that there was snow on the ground!
Oh man, the ride up the lift HURT! The wind was so cold that all four of us had to huddle on the chair lift just to stay warm. However, we were rewarded with some great white scenery.
Neal “Hollywood” Bryant was having a blast. This was his first time doing any type of lift assisted riding.
Check out this awesome photo of the Airborne Marauder by Lady P.
Art Aguilar stitched together a network of trails for us to ride. He called it the “Art Gallery.”
Oh by the way, see this photo? Let’s just say the bike was ok…as for Neal, he was a bit banged up.
Speaking of Neal. Did you know he’s got his own street? This is me taking a photo of him…
Here’s what we call “Bryant on Bryant.”
During our lunch break, we decided to take some photos and dedicate it to one of our Kansas Homies, Airborne Alf. This one is called, “wishing you were here.”
Airborne Alf is a huge Airborne Bicycles and Monster Energy Drink fan. In his absence (no he’s not dead, he’s just in KS) Neal felt it was appropriate to Pour One For Our Homie, in this case, it was a Monster Energy Drink.
We had a great time on our day at Big Bear. To show you how much fun we had, Neal has a little video he made. Enjoy!
Now onto Part 2 of our weekend. On Monday we gathered the rest of the troops to do some riding at Aliso Woods. Here’s a shot of us getting ready to drop into 5 Oaks.
We regrouped at the middle of Rock It. From left to right; RL, Dan, Nick, Khoa, Matt and Doc Thunda.
Dan recently built up a new Santa Cruz Butcher…and yes that thing is wicked sweet. He was showing all of us it’s amazing capabilities to absorb all the bumps on Rock It. Photo by Lady P.
Not wanting to feel left out, Nick and I followed suit. Nick was on his 29er.
Yours truly was on the KHS XCT556…love this bike!
Well that’s about it. After a fun filled weekend, I took a long nap! But before I end this article, I’d like to leave you with a talking animal video. What? Everyone loves talking animals, right?
Great post! Thanks for the tribute! Wish I could have been there with you guys! One of these days I will make it to Cali! And we will shred and shred hard! #MtbLife
