Do you ever wonder why there are some days you just feel extra specially-slow? Well take it from me, a guy that can easily be like Betty White or a Diva if I don’t eat. Make sure you have something in your stomach at least 1-1.5 hours before your ride. It’s going to make a big difference in your performance and enjoyment level.
Seriously. I rode the OTH race yesterday, and it was so hectic getting there that I forgot to eat before the race. I had to load 4 bikes (my 2 kids raced and my youngest wanted her bike too), and get there on time for the kids’ race. I only realized I hadn’t eaten right before the start!
Needless to say, I bonked before the end of lap 1, and rode my slowest race.
