A tool that every home mechanic needs
This was one of those tools that I for years I avoided getting because for the most part, quick links on a chain is fairly easy to undo. For some odd reason and perhaps it’s just me, but 10 speed chains with quick links seem to be harder to undo. So after trying for 30 minutes to try and remove the links, I decided to head over the LBS and get me the Park MLP-1.2. It’s also known as the Master Link Pliers.
Depending on where you buy it, this tool will range from $15-$19+tax. Get one of these tools, I really doubt anything else in your tool box can match the same function as the MLP-1.2 .
I find you definitely need one of these for SRAM links, I tend to find KMC links a little easier to undo without a tool.
those are the bee’s knees.
I resisted getting one for years, but with my arthritic old-man-hands, I can’t undo quick links anymore without them. These and the Pedro’s locking tool for holding cassette cogs (instead of a chainwhip) are some of my favorites in the tool box.
