As someone who loves to peruse Craigslist, FB Marketplace and other selling sites, I see ads of “vintage bikes” asking a premium price. So my question is, are they really worth it or are they just old bikes?
For example, this 1999 Specialized asking a cool grand for it. Yeah, it is nice, looks in decent condition but to me, it is just an old bike.
I would rather spend a grand on this newer Specialized than a 23 year old bike.
Or how about this “rare collectors item” Giant bike? Do people actually collect these? To me it is an old ass hard tail.
Now, this Trek is cool but is it 2 grand cool? Would someone actually ride this on the trail? Don’t get me wrong, I would totally rock a vintage bike on some trails but I would not spend that kind of money on a “vintage collectors” bike.
