A riding buddy with “benefits”

This morning I was selling some of my old bike stuff at the trail head and one of my customer was talking about trying to get his wife out to ride. I gave him a few pointers about how I was able to introduce Priscilla to mountain biking and shared that  it’s been 4 great years that Priscilla has been on the trails. As we kept chit chattin’ I was reminiscing about the times when Priscilla and I first got out on the trails . Fun times indeed, but there were also some frustrating moments for both of us.

I wanted to bring up this subject of trying to get your wife or girlfriend to ride because when Priscilla and I wrote articles about this subject, it was at least 4 years ago and it may have been long forgotten.

Here’s the article she wrote, this was helpful for many couples.Click HERE.

Here’s a few tips that I recommend to husbands and boyfriends:

1. Read Priscilla’s Article on how to get your wife to ride.

2. Encourage her the whole time.

3. Be patient.

4. Let her go at her own pace.

5. Don’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to. (that applies in all areas of your life)

6. Have Fun!

I do hope that things work out for you and your significant other in regards to riding. It really has been one of the best things that has happened for us (other than Lil’ Jesus and stuff). Besides, once you get your wife to be your riding buddy, there are some “fringe benefits” that come along with it…wink wink…hey get your mind out of the gutter! I only meant that sometimes Priscilla buys me breakfast or lunch after a ride…geez!
