“Back in the day…”

Articles Humor

If you’ve ever seen Napoleon Dynamite, then you’re familiar with the character Uncle Rico. He’s apparently stuck in 82 and keeps reliving the glory days. What I’m discovering as I ride, I’ll meet older mountain bikers who often talk about their “Uncle Rico” days. They often discuss how they used to race this and that, or have ridden here and there. Frankly I’m kinda put off by it because it seems like these guys are trying to prove something.
back in 82

If I may, to the Uncle Rico’s out there, there’s no need to feel insecure and try to convince other riders that you used to be great. Frankly, most of us wouldn’t care if you were some sort of pro back in the day. Let’s just ride! Besides, if you were a racer back then, I’m sure you’ll still posses mad biking skills 20 years later.
