PureFit Nutrition Bars

A while back we received some PureFit Nutrition Bars to review. These bars caught my attention when I read that it was Low Glycemic, 40/30/30, Vegan and its Kosher friendly. The fact that it was low glycemic meant that it didn’t have all these simple sugars that would spike me up for a short period of time then cause me to crash an hour later. 40/30/30 basically means the bar was balanced with proper nutrients, then the Vegan thing made it more appealing because my wife can eat the bars too, besides I’m lactose intolerant and most bars have some sort of dairy or whey protein in them that causes me to get stinky gas…yep, I said it. Other bars make me fart.

Description:

* NO Hydrogenated Oils
* NO Animal Products – Vegan
* NO Cholesterol or Trans Fatty Acids
* NO Wheat or Gluten
* NO Artificial Sweeteners
* NO Hidden Carbohydrates
* NO Sugar Alcohol

Best of all, these bars are versatile. From lunch boxes to soccer moms, from Wall Street executives to pro-athletes—everybody loves the taste and they fit into any pocket. Finally—a nutrition bar designed not only for the whole person but for the whole family.

For this review, I’m not going to delve into so many details, I’m basically going to say it how I see it. PureFit bars are great! No only does it fill you up, but thanks to its balanced nutrition and low gylcemic factors, I could eat half the bar before my ride have some energy for the first part of my ride and when its snack time, I’ll eat the other half so I have enough gusto to make it back to the car. There was never a time where I felt bloated, gassy or anything negative. One thing I have to note, you do need to drink water with the bars. It’s a bit drier than other energy bars because it doesn’t have hydrogenated oils which make other bars fattier/oily. Other than that, the texture is great, flavors are very pronounced (you won’t be guessing what flavor you’re eating) and its easy on the stomach. The last thing any mountain biker wants is their food to be sloshing around during a hard climb.

Out of the flavors they sent, the Berry Almond Crunch was the best. To me it tasted like Cap’n Crunch Berries Cereal. The price for PureFit bars average around $2.22 each, and you can pretty much find them everywhere. If not, make sure you check out their website for more info.
