Dirty Dog Rotors Update; Reaper Skull Stem

I’ve put in about 30 miles riding on the Dirty Dog (Dragon) rotors (yeah, it’s been a slow month) and I wanted to check in with my thoughts on them.

They look so trick, it’s ridiculous. Just about everyone I’ve shown them to has commented about great they look. I have to agree with that assessment as well. The Dragon rotors look very cool. On top of that, nearly everyone has also mentioned how they’d like to get them for their own rig.

Of course, the question on everyone’s mind is, how do they perform? So far, exactly like my original Avid Roundagon rotors. Currently they’re being stopped by my BB7s and I haven’t noticed a single bit of performance difference between my old rotor and this new rotor. They stop me just as well as my roundagons and haven’t overheated on any long descents.

I’ll be putting more miles on these and will continue to update you on them. They are definitely the best looking rotors out there and if they continue to perform this well, I don’t see why anyone would have any qualms about getting them for their own bike.

Dirty Dog MTB has an update on their Reaper Skull Stem:

June 8th Update: While we were shaving 50 grams off of the stem, it inadvertently caused the shipment date to us back 2 weeks. We are going to have the stems shipped to us on the 15th. That will take a few days to get here (Made in Taiwan), and then we’ll start shipping to our ever so patient distributors. So you wait another couple of weeks, and you shave 50 grams off of your stem. The new weight is ~569 grams. Thanks again for your patience. We are doing no more modifications, and the first big production run is machining away. This has been an incredible engineering challenge, but the final product is incredible!
