Last night I stopped by RL’s place and picked up the new Sette Sierra 2 Bike Hitch Mount Rack sent by pricepoint.

I didn’t have a chance to put it on last night so before work this morning I spent about 20 minutes mounting it on my Honda Pilot’s 2-inch hitch mount and strapping on a couple of bikes, 29ers of course!

Since this was the first time I was using this, it took me a few minutes longer than normal. Also, I had to set the trays to the right position to hold the two bikes larger tires too. I already know what I can do better so that in the future this process will go much faster. (I also could have spent a few minutes reading the instruction manual, but you know how that is with guys).
Here are my quick first impressions of the Sette Sierra 2 Bike Hitch Mount Rack:
– well built, sturdy
– hook that holds the top tube is very soft. It will not harm the bike in any way.
– can hold many different sized bikes because the wheel trays can be screwed in a myriad of places

After determining that I had originally mounted the vertical portion the wrong way (they’re wrong in the pictures too), I’ve decided that I should read the instruction manual (argh) before taking it out for its first real test.
