World Famous BikeCommuters.com East Coast Editor, Jack “Ghost Rider” Sweeney was in Southern California last week for about a day. We took advantage of the time and decided to hit the equally famous, Fullerton Loop. Though Jack is a road/commuter aficionado, he had dabbled in BMX and mountain bike racing. So when we hit the dirt, he was like a bullet. One thing I’ve noticed with roadies, they maintain a high cadence, which means they are fast on the trails! Jack was no exception, I had a tough time keeping up with him.
Elbows out, behind the saddle, attack position…this guy knows what he’s doing!

I felt left out, so I decided to include myself in the photos.
Jack had borrowed Priscilla’s KHS XC 604 for the ride. This was actually his first experience with a full suspension bike.
This photo just reminds us that we’re lucky to enjoy mountain biking in the middle of a city.
Having great in-town riding is truly a rare blessing!

Oh, I did…you guys are blessed with some fun trails and beautiful scenery!
Around here, there are good trails (Bike Magazine did a profile of Tampa Bay-area trails a couple months ago), but no real climbs and LOTS of mosquitos…I mean clouds of them. Riding in the dry hills of SoCal was a lot more fun, that’s for sure!
