I just got back from a family vacation in North Carolina. Thankfully my wife has recognized my obsession with mountain biking and set some time aside where she would take care of the kids (along with the help of some family) so I could go out and get in some riding.
The places I rode in were vastly different in landscape. The first trail had beautiful yellow and oranges leaves along a pretty easy wide trail. The second one was much more green and thick with vegetation all over. Since I was alone, I only got a couple of shots to show you. Oh, and on the second one, I packed the wrong lens! ugh.

The one ride I didn’t get any ride pictures of (forgot the camera) was some place near a lake. I’m normally much better with names, but this time around I got confused about which place I went to and what name it was associated with.
This trail system had 4 or 5 short loops (less than a mile each) that intertwined with one another. There was very little climbing or descending on any of the loops. It was all relatively flat but what made this place fun was the closely spaced trees and a TON of exposed roots. There was also another section with a small rock garden that added a little spice both going down the garden as well as coming back up. Of course the great people in North Carolina didn’t think all of that was enough fun so they threw in a few long planks and a teeter-totter!!! Those in and of themselves made this trail worth going to.
Oh and I did have a couple of pictures of NC (we hiked for these shots).
As I was heading back from North Carolina on Monday, I got news of the multitude of fires (15, as of Monday night) raging across Southern California. I hope everyone got in their riding kicks over the weekend because there isn’t going to be much riding here in the next few days.
