This morning we went on a ride with a few friends, Arnie and Art. Moe showed up looking all slim since he’s been dropping some weight. But unfortunately Art and Moe did the extended version of the ride which meant I didn’t get pictures of them.
So what I do have is a pretty scene with some of the growth on our trails. Not sure what they’re called, but these pretty yellow flowers were everywhere.

I was sportin’ my new Yellow PricePoint.com jersey. I wanted to play, “where’s RL?” so I hid behind some of the yellow flowers. If I wasn’t wearing my red helmet, I would have blended in nicely. Heck my whole bike was with me too….dang, I’m like a Ninja!
We made sure that we took it easy on today’s ride since Priscilla has a big race tomorrow. It was a prefect day in Cali, the sun was bright, cool breeze and overall a great ride.
That yellow flowering plant is a variety of poison sumac…be on the lookout for a crapload of big wet blisters all over your skin!!!

It’s mustard plant
Mustard plant? Like mustard comes from this plant?
Down in coastal Alabama there’s a plant that grows in the intertidal marshes called “salt mustard”. The flowers look similar, I suppose. Anyway, you can eat the stuff — it’s got a horseradishy kick to it and is great on salads. My marine botany instructor used to make us eat all kinds of plants to help learn them better — and at the end of the semester he made us a big vegetarian feast using only stuff we could find on and around the coast…cactus pads and fruits, salt mustard, algae of many varieties, etc. YUMMY!
What does this have to do with mountainbiking? Nothing! I’m at work and bored, so there.
