My New Ibex Ignition Frame

I recently received a new frame from the folks at Ibex Bikes. Not that there was anything wrong with my green frame that resulted in a replacement, but Ibex wanted me to try out their new rig because it has been reinforced. So what’s the best way to test a reinforced frame…Downhill!

As some of you may know, I’ve used my old Ibex Ignition as my DH rig and shoot…even got a first place with it. Though the Ignition is marketed as an “ALL Mountain,” I’ve set it up so it can handle the Southridge Winter Series.

Here’s a gander of the new frame. It’s a nice matte black…pretty stealth eh? I really love the lines on the Ignition. The frame looks like a hard tail since the rocker arms are tucked between the seat and top tubes.

The Ignition is equipped with a Marz 66Light fork for soaking up big boulders and drops.

Ultegra cassette, XT rear derailleur. Oh and yes, those are Nokon Cables.

Manitou Metel coil over shock, Pink Jagwire derailleur cable/housing. By the way, the big 44t chain ring, it helps with the WALL at Southridge.

Last but not least, I can’t forget about my favorite accessory.

I had already ridden the new Ignition frame at the Southridge DH course over the weekend and this thing is super smooth. The rear shock makes a huge difference from the prior air shock I had. So wish me luck as I go back this Sunday to race DH and hopefully make it back in one piece.
