Seasonal Allergies got you down?

I HATE my seasonal allergies. I usually get it….ready for this….6 months out of the year! Yup its true, it usually starts in January and ends right around June, it sucks.

Sometimes it gets so bad that I can’t do much. Sleeping becomes a chore, I can’t taste my food and riding can become hazardous because my eyes are tearing up so bad that I can’t see where I’m going.

But there are a few things that I do to help relieve the symptoms of seasonal allergies….

Before you try any of this stuff, check with your doctor to see if its right for you. Besides I’m only a Doctor on TV.

1. I prefer to use Loratadine as my antihistamine. It’s commonly known as Claritin. If you have severe congestion, Claritin sells a product called Claritin D (D for Decongestant)

2. I use my own version of the Nety Pot to flush out the bad guys in my nose.

For me, I usually will take the Loratadine about an hour before I hit the trail, that way I give it enough time to start working. But I use the Nety Pot if I’m at home with some congestion and can’t breathe. Usually the combination of those two things can help me get through the day. I’m going to borrow a marketing buzz word from the 80’s and I hope they don’t mind, but the effect of the two methods can be considered “synergistic.”
