All brands have their nicknames by “haters”. Gary Fisher’s nickname is Gary Fissure. Cannodale is nicknamed “Crack ‘n Fail”. This time, Cannondale is hoping to stop crack ‘n fails before it starts with their Cannondale Scalpel.

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Cannondale 2008 model year “Scalpel� mountain bikes
Units: About 150
Manufacturer: Cannondale Bicycle Corporation, of Bethel, Conn.
Hazard: The frame can break while in use, causing the rider to lose control and suffer injuries from a fall or collision.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received six reports of frames breaking. No injuries have been reported.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen a picture of the frame break, but that’s just because, as my wife would put it, I’m a dork.
