Win RL’s Airborne Taka!

By RL Policar
March 29, 2012 1 Min Read
57

You read it right, you can win my personal race bike, the Airborne Taka. It saddens me to announce this contest because I simply love the Taka. However, due to health insurance issues, I am having to give up racing downhill. Rather than having this beautiful bike sit in my garage collecting dust, I’d much rather see it go to a good home.

There’s nothing wrong with my Taka, in fact, I even have the Cane Creek Angleset installed with a 1.0 degree off-set.

In order for you to win this, all you have to do is leave a comment below. All comments will be held in purgatory in order for us to filter through the spam. If you’re a legit comment, we’ll approve it. We’ll randomly choose one lucky winner from the comments.

We’ll be announcing the winner this “Sunday”. Good Luck!

    RL,

No need to give away the Taka. I will gladly buy it from you. Airborne is well-known for their value. However, I can send you a cashiers check for $5000. Just write me a check for the difference in price. Also, would you mind shipping it to my cousin’s address? Or just keep the bike. I am an attorney who represents a royal family in Africa. I can underwrite an insurance policy for you that will allow you to race. Just send me a check. . .

    Dearest,

It is appalling to me that you have to give up racing due to lack of health insurance, and I thought Obamacare took care of that????

Sorry to hear of your situation. It is awesome that you would just give this bike away. That shows that you really care about your sport wanting to get more people into it.

  25. Ken Jensen says:

I do not like hearing that someone is having to give up what they love, but I promise you that the bike will be taken care of if I win it.

  26. Jeremy Mudd says:

I would only want it if it comes with the wheel relfectors. If you’ve taken them off, then the deal is off. Its dead to me.

  27. Jake Franklin says:

I would love to give downhill a try. There are several new trails in my area, I just need the equipment to get started.

  28. Brock says:
    March 30, 2012 at 3:00 pm

hahah @ Albacore’s post. That is going to be hard to beat.

I have a new option for your taka, it’s called a time share. I’ll happily ride it, keep it clean and lubed, store it in a safe dry place, take sexy photos of it in its natural environment, let pretty girls stoke it in a sexually suggestive way, let my wife ride it (on her birthday and anniversary), use it to distract hipsters while they ride their fixies downtown, use it to outrun cougars (animals and women), buy it Christmas and birthday presents, attempt to get it on camera in tv shows and films that are shot here, and in return, you can come visit me in Vancouver and ride the shore and Whistler on your old trusty steed. I also have the worlds seventeenth most uncomfortable sofa bed, and if that doesn’t make you want to make me the winner, I’ll tell everyone what the L stands for in your name (hint: its not LaBeouf), (hint 2: there’s an aussie connection), and that when you were 9, Ronald McDonald scared you at his family restaurant (See my entry from the “win stuff from my garage” competition… which technically I never won because I was living in Australia back then.)

If you have trouble picking a winner, how about donating it to an up and coming youngster in your local area or club. Someone who shows some raw talent and could use it to progress to the next level of racing or riding.

  29. Brock says:
    March 30, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Wait… You race with reflectors on your spokes? Oh, they must match your eyes and your pink jersey 😀

  30. Mike Shannon says:
    March 30, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Cool bike! And I have different photos of you riding that bike as screen savers on all my different computers. Just sayin. You should sign it first, too. I wish you the best with your health.

I’m sorry to hear about the insurance troubles, and having to get rid of that amazing bike! Someone is going to be one lucky fella. If by slim chance that happens to be me, I promise to punch Corey Pond in the family jewels. Twice! And I’ll get it on video.

Can’t say that if I win the Takao that I will start riding downhill. Frankly I think you downhill riders miight be a bit CRAZY. Fun to watch, but CRAZY. However, if I win I will find some good use for the bike.

    Dear Mr. Policar,

Sorry to hear the news about your racing career, you were doing really well. I see you have a dilemma and I would be more than happy to sport the TAKA. This past season I took on the coaching job for two guys under the PMBC Racing and it was fun. Just keep riding.

    See you soon
